Long Island Professional Sports Teams
Long Island offers a wide variety of state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The region boasts its very own professional sports teams including the Independent Atlantic League Long Island Ducks, playing baseball at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. The newly renovated Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum is home to NHL team, the New York Islanders and NBA D-league team, the Long Island Nets. The New York Riptide makes its National Lacrosse League debut at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Mitchel Athletic Complex plays host to two professional soccer teams, the Long Island Rough Riders and New York Cosmos. Local professional lacrosse team, the New York Lizards, plays at James M. Shuart Stadium in Uniondale. Our complexes, parks, golf courses and stadiums are world-class hosting professional and youth teams.
New York Islanders
The New York Islanders are Long Island’s very own professional hockey team. The NHL team planted its roots on Long Island in 1972 where they built up their team roster and went on to win 4 Stanley Cups. The team currently calls Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn home.
