Golf Courses

Long Island is the home of classic American golf – from beautiful public courses and world-renowned private clubs to memorable professional tournaments like the U.S. Open and PGA Championship.  Coming soon in 2025, Long Island will host the Ryder Cup for the first time, right here at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course!

Explore Long Island’s golf courses tucked away in the tranquil Pine Barrens, rolling over the sand along South Shore beaches, climbing the hills of the Gold Coast and meandering through the East End’s open expanses.  There are close to 130 golf courses and clubs in our region, more than 60 of which welcome public players.

Discover some of these courses by viewing the profiles below, and be sure to check out Golf On Long Island, the region’s central resource for all things golf, including course descriptions, news and local history.

Did you know Long Island golf dates all the way back to 1891 at Shinnecock Hills, America’s first incorporated golf club?  Learn more about the sport’s 130-year local history with Images of America: Long Island Golf, a photo-history tour by GOLI’s Phil Carlucci.  Read about current and long-lost courses, famous golf architects, past tournaments and much more.
