Discover Long Island is committed to ensuring that the diversity of our region and the rich cultural history of Long Island is represented, highlighted and celebrated in the promotion of our destination. We define diversity as people of different race, ethnicity, sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identities. It is these diverse communities that make Long Island a place where everyone BeLongs, and we are committed to celebrating, respecting, and acknowledging everyone who lives in and visits our region.
Our team assists in guiding this effort through intentional and deliberate recommendations to showcase diversity in marketing materials for a welcoming and inclusive depiction of Long Island, to highlight businesses in historically underrepresented communities and to provide ideas and inspiration for embracing diversity in partnerships, staff and board members.
Discover Long Island is proud to be a part of the Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) and help represent minority- and women-owned businesses across the region. New York State is home to the highest MWBE utilization rate in the country, and our organization is proud to support all businesses and diverse perspectives that call Long Island home.
