Hydrate and Rest

You’ve been training for weeks, but now its time to hit the brakes and get your body rejuvenated. Grab some H2O and relax—your body will feel like new on race day.

Eat Your Carbs:

Eating well and getting those carbohydrates will give your body the energy it needs to finish the 26.2 miles. Luckily, downtown Patchogue has a great variety of restaurants for you to get your bread and pasta!

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

The last thing you want to do is run a marathon tired. Make sure you a get a few nights of good sleep leading up to the run so your body can rebuild and restore your muscles!

Check the Weather Forecast:

While fall temperatures on Long Island are ideal for running, there is always a chance for unexpected weather conditions. Knowing the race day forecast will help you plan what and how much to wear.

Get Your Gear Ready:

There’s nothing worse than showing up on race day without your headphones or hair scrunchie! Make sure to lay everything out the night before so your set and ready to go in the morning.

Join Catholic Health Services for the 5th Annual Suffolk County Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Run. Run through vibrant downtowns and along scenic shores with live entertainment and spectator cheering will keep you motivated to cross the finish line where everyone gets a medal. You’ll also be running for a great cause as all Suffolk County Marathon proceeds will be donated to veterans’ programs on Long Island.

Whether you’re a runner or a spectator, everyone is invited to stay for some post-race celebrations at the FreedomFest Taste of Long Island Festival, showcasing the rich and diverse collection of food and beverage options available across Suffolk County. Stroll downtown Patchogue enjoying live musical entertainment, local craft breweries, award-winning local wines, dining deals, signature dishes from Main Street restaurants, and much more.

But that’s not all! For the first time ever, the FreedomFest will include a car show open to all year antique, classic, custom, muscle, and special interest vehicles. Grab your friends and family for an event you won’t want to miss!
