Father’s Day is nearly here, so it is time to start planning the perfect way to honor the dads in our lives. From the sporty dad, to the thrill-seeker, to the self-proclaimed food and beer connoisseur, Long Island has more than enough activities to choose from to make Dad’s day special. Our team curated a long list of events and things to do the weekend of Father’s Day to make unforgettable memories with dad.
Horse Around:
Bethpage Polo at the Park celebrates their opening day for the summer season on Father’s Day, June 16th. There is no better way to celebrate our fathers than a thrilling polo match at the gorgeous Bethpage State Park Polo Fields. The gates open at 2pm and Father’s admission—DADmission—is free!
Teatime or Tee Time:
If your dad wants to relax on Father’s Day, visit the Curry Club at SaGhar in Port Jefferson for Indian High Teatime. The offer is $10 and includes pakora, samosas, and biscuits from 3-5pm.
For a little more action, go golfing. Join The Muttontown Club in East Norwich and enjoy the perfect place to have some friendly competition on the 18-hole golf course.
Seek Some Thrills:
At Adventureland in Farmingdale all dads get free admission on Father’s Day. The mom-and-pop amusement park celebrates its 62nd anniversary this summer and has become a staple of Long Island suburban life.
Also a long-time staple of Long Island, The Long Island Skydiving Center could let your dad experience New York from a whole new angle. The center is located on the South Shore of Long Island and the drop zone overlooks the Atlantic coastline, Hampton Beaches and Fire Island. On clear days, you can even see all the way to Montauk and New York City.
Spend your Father’s Day somewhere between the ground and the sky at WildPlay Jones Beach! WildPlay is the ultimate adventure destination, offering five levels of aerial adventure courses, ziplines, and a 40-foot freefall jump.
See a Show and Laugh Out Loud:
Instead of listening to them on the radio, head to The John W. Engeman Theater and watch a live production of “Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons,” based on the real-life events of how the iconic musical group came to be. While their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage was a different story. This production of Jersey Boys is a musical dramedy that will leave you and your dad in stitches as they try not to sing along.
Comedian Kevin Herrera is performing live at the Paramount June 15th. This adult-only comedy show is the perfect fun the night before Father’s Day.
Catch Some Sun:
On June 15th, Splish Splash is hosting the annual Father’s Day Flop contest where adults showcase their best bellyflop in the wave pool and are judged by a panel. The winner receives a great prize in addition to the coolest brag. Pre-registration is required.
Of course, a timeless Long Island summer weekend option is to head towards the water and step in the sand. Long Island has some of the best beaches in the world, and this year Dr. Beach ranked Cooper’s Beach of Southampton 2nd nationwide, and Main Beach of East Hampton ranked 6th. Pack up the cooler full of dad’s favorite snacks and drinks and head to the beach!
Hit the Road in Style:
If your dad would enjoy driving around the island in style, rent a luxury car at Cloud Nine Exotics. Each vehicle in their fleet is individually unique and guaranteed to make heads turn.
