LONG ISLAND, NY (August 30, 2018) ­ – Discover Long Island is pleased to announce the 2018 recipients of the region’s annual Tourism Awards. Championing the efforts of Long Island’s $5.9 billion tourism industry, the awards honor the leaders, partners, and campaigns that best represent the service and spirit highlighted in the categories: Partner of the Year, Industry Advancement, Tourism Trailblazer and Tourism Legacy. The following honorees will be recognized at the Tourism Awards Gala held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury.

“It is our honor to recognize the top talent and leadership in Long Island’s tourism industry,” said Kristen Jarnagin, President & CEO of Discover Long Island. “The visitor economy is a critical economic driver for our region, creating local jobs, supporting small businesses and generating more than $700 million annually in local and state tax revenues. These award recipients represent the tremendous hard work that takes place daily to further and enhance this important economic engine.”

2018 Tourism Award honorees include:

  • Partner of the Year Award – Long Island MacArthur Airport
  • Industry Advancement Award – The Hospitality and Tourism Management Program at St. Joseph’s College
  • Tourism Trailblazer Award – Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
  • Tourism Legacy Award – Robert Lipper, Former Newsday Travel Guide Producer

The Tourism Awards Gala will bring together the leaders in Long Island’s tourism industry to celebrate the people, products, and promotions that contributed to a record 2018.
