By the early aughts, roadside motels, once the darlings of American travel, had all but faded from the spotlight. Driving past one of these past-their-prime spots might have sparked a flicker of nostalgia, but no longer warranted a stop.

The golden era had come and gone, leaving motels as relics of a bygone time: weathered, overlooked, and quietly forgotten.

But not by everyone.

Silver Sands belongs to a new generation of moteliers who see charm in the weathered wood, possibility in the patina. We didn’t set out to reinvent it. We saw its soul, and gave it room to breathe again. It was reawakened. And in doing so, we joined a quiet movement – one that honors the forgotten, the offbeat, the iconic.
