DLI Strengthens Board Leadership with New Appointments

LONG ISLAND, NY  (July 14, 2026) –  Discover Long Island (DLI), the region’s only accredited destination marketing organization, today announces new appointments to its Board of Directors and Executive Committee, further strengthening the organization’s leadership under the direction of recently appointed President & CEO, Sharon Wyman.

Rob Schneider, Commissioner of Aviation for the Town of Islip, has been appointed to Discover Long Island’s Board of Directors, while longtime Board members Dorothy Roberts, President of the Long Island Hospitality Association, and Terri Alessi-Miceli, President & CEO of HIA-LI, have been appointed to their first terms on the organization’s Executive Committee.

The appointments enhance an already accomplished Board of Directors comprised of leaders representing Long Island’s tourism, hospitality, cultural, transportation and business communities. Together, these industry experts help guide Discover Long Island’s mission of growing the region’s visitor economy through strategic destination marketing, advocacy and partnership.

Rob Schneider brings more than 22 years of leadership experience with the Town of Islip Department of Aviation, where he oversees Long Island MacArthur Airport and Bayport Aerodrome. As Commissioner of Aviation, he leads airport operations, air service development, business development and community engagement, helping strengthen regional connectivity and expand access for visitors traveling to Long Island. His appointment further reinforces the longstanding partnership between Discover Long Island and Long Island MacArthur Airport, one of the region’s most important gateways for leisure and business travelers.

Dorothy Roberts has more than two decades of hospitality leadership experience spanning hotel sales, marketing and operations across nationally recognized brands. As a longtime Discover Long Island Board member, and current President of the Long Island Hospitality Association, she serves as a leading voice for the region’s lodging industry, providing valuable insight into one of tourism’s most essential sectors. Her appointment to this Executive Committee elevates the perspective of Long Island’s hotel community as Discover Long Island continues to support and advocate for the region’s hospitality partners.

Terri Alessi-Miceli has also served on Discover Long Island’s Board of Directors for several years and has been a steadfast advocate for Long Island’s economic growth and business community. As President & CEO of HIA-LI, she leads one of the region’s most influential business organizations, championing initiatives focused on workforce development, transportation, economic development and strategic partnerships. Her appointment to the Executive Committee reflects the continued collaboration between Discover Long Island and HIA-LI, recognizing the critical connection between tourism and the broader business community in driving Long Island’s economy.
