Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society

The Huntington Harbor Lighthouse is a historic 1912 maritime icon on Long Island’s North Shore. Built as the East Coast’s first poured-concrete offshore lighthouse, the 54-foot structure features a distinct Venetian Renaissance and Beaux-Arts style resembling a small castle. Originally home to lightkeepers until automation in 1949, it remains an active navigation aid whose light is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The lighthouse structure itself is owned and maintained by the nonprofit (501c3) Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society, and is available for regularly scheduled tours from June through September.  Tours start at the Town of Huntington’s Gold Star Battalion Beach at 324 West Shore Road, Huntington, and take about 90 minutes. 

The lighthouse is located a few hundred feet offshore at the entrance to Huntington Harbor. Your adventure begins with a scenic 10-minute boat ride aboard our Coast Guard-certified launch, safely guided by a certified Master Captain. Once you arrive, our knowledgeable and passionate volunteers will share the structure’s fascinating history and guide you through the sights. Enjoy unmatched panoramic views and keep an eye out for our resident ospreys, who return to nest here year after year!
