Cedar Island Lighthouse, nestled in Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton, has stood as a vigilant sentinel over Gardiners Bay since 1839—guiding whaling ships and fishing vessels into Sag Harbor . The current granite Italianate tower, erected in 1868 to replace the original wooden structure, was decommissioned in 1934 and now serves as an iconic daymark for regional boating traffic.
