Port Jefferson Village is welcoming the holiday season in a bright, festive, and community-focused way with the debut of Candy Cane Lane, a new winter lighting activation inspired by the nationally recognized Rochester, Michigan winter revitalization project. The celebration will take place on Small Business Saturday, November 29, at 5:30 PM, transforming Chandler Square into a walk-through holiday experience designed to boost local shopping and bring seasonal magic to the heart of the village.
The evening will be highlighted by a special lighting ceremony led by Mayor Lauren Sheprow, who will flip a whimsical oversized holiday switch to illuminate the buildings of Chandler Square in thousands of sparkling lights. New York State Assemblymember Rebecca Kassay will also be in attendance to mark the launch of the village’s winter shopping season and support local small businesses.
The project is made possible thanks to the significant financial support of James Tsunis and The Northwind Group, whose investment demonstrates a clear commitment to strengthening Port Jefferson’s local economy. Mr. Tsunis has been a driving force behind the coordination of the lighting installation and remains one of the strongest advocates for the village’s small business community.
“This is exactly the kind of joyful, community-driven event that makes Port Jeff special,” said Mayor Sheprow. “Candy Cane Lane will brighten our village all season long and encourage residents and visitors to shop local, dine local, and celebrate together.”
