Waterfront Dining on Long Island

July 22, 2021

No matter where you are on Long Island – from South Shore Nassau all the way to the Nork Fork of Suffolk – there is no shortage of amazing restaurants with breathtaking waterfront views.  Enjoy your favorite cuisines and local culinary masterpieces surrounded by scenes of the Long Island Sound, the Atlantic Ocean, and beautiful bays.

With floor-to-ceiling windows right on the boardwalk opening to views of the ocean, the Atlantica at the Allegria Hotel does not disappoint when it comes to scenery.  Visit the restaurant’s bright and nautical dining room for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and then stay for boardwalk vibes and the creatively curated cocktails!

Visit one of Long Island’s oldest and most famous clam bars, Peter’s Clam Bar in Island Park.  Situated on the water, locals and visitors from all around the metropolitan area come out to Peter’s for the best seafood scene in Nassau County since 1939.

If you have a boat in the Manhasset Bay and a big appetite, be sure to take your boat right up to LaMotta’s in Port Washington to get your dining fix!  LaMotta’s serves the finest modern American cuisine with global influences and offers the option to dine indoors or on your boat on the restaurant’s dock!

If you are headed out to the North Fork for a day at the vineyards, don’t forget to stop at Claudio’s Restaurant in Greenport for your lunch or dinner.  Claudio’s is one of the most historic restaurants out east located on the bay, serving old-school ocean fair and drinks at their antique bar.

Spice things up with an island-inspired waterfront dining experience at RUMBA Inspired Island Cuisine & Rum Bar out in Hampton Bays.  Enjoy handcrafted rum libations from happy staffers with an easygoing breezy vibe right on Shinnecock Bay.

While you are in Hampton Bays, chase the summer sun with fine dining and drinks at Cowfish Restaurant on the Shinnecock canal.  With panoramic water views and dishes from both the land & sea, Cowfish is the spot to dine all year round for a beautiful culinary experience.

Harbor Club at Prime in Huntington takes modern elegance and combines it with classic luxury at their stunning restaurant on the Huntington Harbor.  With floor-to-ceiling windows and an open-air balcony, you can enjoy your lunch or dinner in a bright, chic atmosphere with nautical surroundings.

Hailing from the culinary delicacy of Downtown Manhattan, Scarpetta Beach at Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa brings the famous eats of NYC to Montauk.  Scarpetta Beach offers Montauk vibes while serving the signature Italian and seafood classics that you’ll find in their city location.

Right on the Connetquot River in Oakdale, The Snapper Inn offers breathtaking views where you can enjoy the best Blue Point oysters, Peconic Bay scallops, and soft-shell crabs.

There are countless options for dining on the water when visiting Fire Island.  One of the most notable fun spots to hit up when visiting Ocean Beach Fire Island is Houser’s Bayfront Bar and Grill.  If you are a lobster fan, then look no further because Houser’s has the best lobster special in Ocean Beach!  In addition, be sure to check out The Hideaway Bayfront Restaurant nearby where you can take in the ocean views from one of the best bayfront decks in Ocean Beach while sipping local Long Island wines. And if you’re arriving by personal charter or a party boat, you’ll want to dock at Flynn’s. For nearly four decades, the dining experience at this restaurant/bar/marina has gone unrivaled. From catered events to posh dinners with friends and even flirtatious seaside dance parties complete with frozen drinks (like the infamous Fire Island Rocket Fuel), Flynn’s is the spot fit for any soirée!

Take a stroll along the Sound in Port Jefferson to Wave Seafood & Steak at Danford’s Hotel for an elegant, nautical evening meal.  Wave has a farm-to-table concept that focuses on fresh, local produce & regional seafood paired with the most amazing sunset as you enjoy all the restaurant has to offer.
