From the parks to the stores to the outdoor dining across the island, you can enjoy a day or two out yourself with your best bud with you. Treat yourself and your pet as you explore fun things to do across Nassau & Suffolk!
Get your best fur buddy and head for a morning stroll through one of Long Island’s largest county parks, Eisenhower Park. When you get to the park, you will find a whole 1.5 acre section dedicated as the Dog Park, where your puppy can interact with other pups, drink from the water stations and catch some shade under the trees.
When you’re done with your morning stroll, take your pet on over to the new Bond Vet in Garden City to get all groomed & cleaned up for the day. Once groomed, you can have your pet pick from some treats in the hip & welcoming lobby for being a good buddy through their grooming. The best part of BondVet is that they are also a walk-in clinic, so if you have any pet issues throughout the day, head right in without an appointment for cozy care.
For an afternoon puppy-play date, head on up to Bayville’s newest dog park at the Town of Oyster Bay Dog Park at Centre Island Beach. This park was just opened in 2019, and offers a beautiful place for people and pets alike to gather and socialize in the town’s efforts to make our parks more dog-friendly.
After running around all day, grab yourself a brew and some bites at Oyster Bay Brewing Company. Not far down the road from the Dog Park at Centre Island Beach, enjoy some refreshing Long Island inspired libations with your furry friend right at your side.
Give yourself and your pup the 5-star hotel treatment when you take them with you on your stay at the Garden City Hotel, Long Island’s only 4 Diamond property which also happens to be pet friendly.
Head out east, and get your pup off the leash to kick start the day with a run at Stotzky Dog Park in Riverhead. This park is an off-leash dog park that allows dogs to run freely and enjoy the open space with their owners and other pet friends.
Hungry as you start to head out east and looking for good eats where you can take your dog? Try the bison burgers and steaks at Riverhead’s famous Tweed’s Restaurant, where you can dine in their courtyard with your puppy next to you. Tweed’s is a historic centerpiece for the town and is an award winning dining establishment that you will want to experience with your best bud.
As you head out east with your best fur buddy and are looking to stop at one of the wineries for a tasting on the famous North Fork, check out RGNY, which allows you to taste all the best wines on their outdoor grounds with your pet at your side.
If you are looking for a different kind of craft beverage tasting that isn’t wine, be sure to stop at Greenport’s famous Greenport Harbor Brewing Company. They create the best craft beers that reflect Long Island’s culture, and provide great outdoor entertainment & space for you and your pup to enjoy.
Treat your puppy to some shopping on the main strip in Greenport when you stop into Harbor Pet. This shop is like a boutique for pets, so shop for some style for your pet and don’t forget to add some specialty, healthy treats to your cart!
End your day with a sunset dinner on the patio at Claudio’s Waterfront Restaurant. Dine at one of the oldest, most historic nautical restaurants on Long Island which allows you to have your pup at your side outdoors as you indulge in some of the best lobster rolls you will find out east.
