Long Island Railroad
The Long Island Railroad system, the oldest railroad still operating under the same name (since 1834) is also North America’s busiest commuter railroad. Comprised of over 700 miles of track on 11 different branches, three branches service Suffolk County – the Montauk Branch services Amityville to Montauk, the Ronkonkoma services Wyandanch to Greenport and the Port Jefferson Branch services Cold Springs Harbor to Port Jefferson.
