HAUPPAUGE, NY- (May 16, 2016)- The LICVB&SC IS promoting rail travel to Long Island at the May 19 Amtrak/NY by Rail Travel Show at Penn Station, emphasizing the easy link from Amtrak to the LIRR and other transportation options.

The LICVB&SC will speak with Amtrak passengers and commuters passing through Penn Station encouraging them to explore and discover Long Island. Representatives from more than 25 tourism destinations, attractions and lodging facilities were scheduled to be at the show.

Scenic displays of hotels, attractions, and outdoor adventures will be displayed throughout the day. Visitors received the complimentary 2016 New York By Rail magazine and Long Island Travel Guide, in addition to other information.

Don Wildman, host of the Travel Channel’s hit series Mysteries at the Museum, will make a special appearance at the 11th Annual New York By Rail Day Travel Show at Penn Station on Thursday, May 19th. The event, which takes place in the rotunda from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., will feature New York State getaways reachable by Amtrak. Wildman will appear through a new partnership with the Museum Association of New York.

The newly-released 2016 issue of New York By Rail magazine will be available at the Travel Show. It includes a special section, “Discover New York’s Museums,” written by Wildman based on his experiences visiting many of them personally. During his appearance, he will sign copies of the publication.

“As a New York resident, I’m continually floored by this place,” Wildman said. “There are more than 2,000 art, history, science, and children’s museums in the state, not to mention zoos, botanical gardens and historic houses. There’s magic in museums: they hold objects and experiences that will excite, challenge, and enlighten you and your family.”

In addition to meeting Wildman, Amtrak passengers and commuters passing through Penn Station will be able to explore and discover New York State and Vermont with representatives from more than 25 tourism destinations, attractions and lodging facilities. Scenic displays of hotels, attractions, and outdoor adventures will be displayed throughout the day. Visitors will receive a complimentary copy of the 2016 New York By Rail magazine, travel getaway ideas, and chances to win New York State travel prizes.
