DISCOVER LONG ISLAND ANNOUNCES NEWLY ELECTED 2019 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

LONG ISLAND, NY (December 17, 2018) – Discover Long Island announces its newly elected 2019 Board of Directors. Comprised of Long Island’s leaders in the tourism and hospitality industry, the board boasts a range of expertise from hotels and resorts, culture and heritage organizations, attractions, transportation and the business community.

“Long Island’s visitor economy remains a critical economic driver for our region, creating local jobs, supporting small businesses and generating more than $700 million annually in local and state tax revenues,” said Kristen Jarnagin, President & CEO of Discover Long Island. “As a defining industry for the region it is imperative that the work of this organization remains on the forefront of advancement to best serve our community. Discover Long Island’s Executive Committee welcomes its new treasurer Nancy Costopulos, President & CEO of Old Westbury Gardens. In addition, the organization is thrilled to announce its newest members at large, Tom Hermann of Dune Management, Victor Scotto, General Manager of Scotto Brothers/ Chateau Briand, Dorothy Roberts, Vice President Hotel Operations of Oxford Hospitality Group, and Michael Papierno, General Manager of Samar Hospitality. Re-elected for another term, the organization welcomes back George Gorman, Regional Director of NYS Parks, LI Region and Matthew Cohen, VP of Government Affairs & Communications for the Long Island Association.

The Discover Long Island organization and its board work on behalf of the region’s visitor economy to continue driving year-round visitation to all areas of Long Island, positively benefitting every resident.
