Discover Long Island Announces 2019 Tourism Award Recipients

Partner of the Year – Industry Advancement Tourism Trailblazer Tourism Legacy

LONG ISLAND, NY (November 12, 2019) ­ – Discover Long Island is pleased to announce the 2019 recipients of the region’s annual Tourism Awards. Championing the efforts of Long Island’s $6.1 billion tourism industry, the awards honor the leaders, partners, and campaigns that best represent the service and spirit highlighted in the categories: Partner of the Year, Industry Advancement, Tourism Trailblazer and Tourism Legacy. The following honorees will be recognized at the Tourism Awards Gala held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury.

“We are honored to recognize these award recipients and the tremendous hard work that takes place daily to further enhance this important economic engine for our destination,’ said Kristen Jarnagin, President & CEO of Discover Long Island. “The success of tourism in our region hinges on the continued support of successful partnerships, generation of innovative destination and product development and strong leadership. This event recognizes the many behind the scenes heroes that continue to shape and further both the tourism industry and economic development for our region.”

2019 Tourism Award honorees include:

  • Partner of the Year Award – NYC & Company
  • Industry Advancement Award – Long Island Regional Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs)
  • Tourism Trailblazer Award – Long Island Railroad Third Track Expansion & Right Track Coalition
  • Tourism Legacy Award – George Gorman Jr., Regional Director, NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

The Tourism Awards Gala will bring together the leaders in Long Island’s tourism industry to celebrate the people, products, and promotions that contributed to a record 2019. This year’s award ceremony will be presented by Long Island’s own Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti, 2016 Golden Buzzer recipient and finalist of America’s Got Talent.
