Famous Lighthouses & Windmills

Built along Long Island’s craggy shores, lighthouses have been guiding ships at sea for centuries. Visitors can walk up lighthouse steps to see magnificent vistas and learn about the importance of our maritime history. With over 25 lighthouses built on Long Island since 1796, Long Island enjoys a deep connection to these historic structures. Windmills across Long Island are wondrous, charming focal point of their communities, and a teaching moment for kids to learn about the possibilities of wind power.
