Enter Our Photo Contest to Be Featured on the Cover of our Visitor Guide!
We’re inviting locals, visitors, and passionate photographers to share your favorite Long Island moments with us. We want to see Long Island through your lens! 📷✨
Submit your best high-resolution photos for the chance to be featured on the cover of our 2026 - 2027 Discover Long Island Inspiration Guide. Dozens of additional standout images will be included throughout the guide, on our website, and across our marketing materials and social media platforms—with full credit, of course!
We print around 100,000 copies of our Inspiration Guides and distribute them across hospitality venues, networking events, international tradeshows, and more—offering exceptional visibility among travelers, industry leaders, and media professionals! The guide is also published digitally on our website, making it accessible to a global audience year-round.

Prizes & Recognition
🏆 One winning photo will be featured on the cover of our 2026–2027 Inspiration Guide. In addition to this honor, the winning photographer will be invited to Discover Long Island’s exclusive networking mixers with our partners, receive opportunities to collaborate on future photography projects, and be highlighted in our official press release. Plus, they’ll receive a Discover Long Island swag bag.

What We're Looking For
We’re looking for images that capture the authentic spirit and scenic diversity of Long Island. Think iconic coastlines, vibrant downtowns, and unforgettable moments. If it's uniquely Long Island, we want to see it! Some of the top themes we’d love to see include:
- Landscapes & Regions: From the Gold Coast to Fire Island, the Hamptons to the North Fork—showcase the beauty of our beaches, parks, vineyards, and historic towns.
- Seasons & Events: Photos that highlight the magic of Long Island year-round, whether it's a fall harvest, a snowy winter scene, springtime blooms, or a summer outing.
- Experiences & Activities: Sailing, hiking, farm visits, spa days, weddings, girls' trips, golf, sports, live music, pet-friendly places, and much more, show us how you adventure, relax, and connect on Long Island.
- Arts & Culture: Historic landmarks, local galleries, museums, concerts, and community celebrations.
- Local Flavor: Walkable downtowns, small businesses, wine country, breweries, and foodie favorites (smile with your favorite BEC or lobster roll!).
Entry Rules
Eligibility
The contest is open to legal residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Discover Long Island and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, sibling, or child) are not eligible to participate.
Originality & Ownership
All photos must be original work. The photographer(s) submitting must be the author(s) of the images or must have full permission from the copyright holder(s) to submit the photos on their behalf. By entering, participants represent and warrant that their submission does not infringe upon any third-party rights. Photos must not contain any signatures, watermarks, markings, autographs, or identifying text.
Usage Rights
By entering the contest, entrants grant Discover Long Island a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted photos for marketing, promotional, editorial, and advertising purposes. This includes but is not limited to use in print materials, social media, digital campaigns, and the official Discover Long Island Visitor Guide.
Entrants retain the copyright to their photos and will be credited wherever reasonably possible when their image is used.
Photo Requirements

Photos must be high-resolution (300 DPI preferred) and taken on Long Island, NY.

Entries that are low-quality, watermarked, heavily filtered, or do not meet the basic content and technical standards may be disqualified.

There is no limit to the number of entries per person; however, each entry must be submitted separately and meet all requirements.
Model Consent
If a photo includes recognizable individuals, the entrant must have obtained the appropriate model releases or permissions from those featured in the image. If the photo includes identifiable body art, such as tattoos, the entrant may also need to obtain permission from the tattoo artist, as tattoos may be protected under copyright law. Entrants are responsible for securing these rights and may be asked to provide documentation upon request.
No Purchase Necessary
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. This is a skill-based contest; chance plays no part in determining the winner.
Judging Criteria
Photos will be evaluated by Discover Long Island and selected based on the following criteria:

How well the image captures the spirit and identity of Long Island
All judging decisions are final.
Winner Notification
Selected photographers will be notified via email by July 31,2025. Winners may be asked to complete a media release and/or provide additional information. The photo selected for the cover of the 2026 - 2027 Inspiration Guide will be announced publicly. Additional selected photos may be used throughout the guide and in other Discover Long Island marketing efforts.
Disqualification & Rights Reserved
Discover Long Island reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate, irrelevant, or non-compliant with these rules. We also reserve the right to amend these rules, suspend, or cancel the contest if necessary due to circumstances beyond our control.
Privacy
Personal information collected during the entry process will be used solely for contest administration and in accordance with Discover Long Island’s Privacy Policy.
