Halloween season is upon us and Long Island has an array of activities available for every age group. From spooky haunted houses to family-friendly events, here’s a list of our favorite haunts to get you into the Halloween spirit.
Darkside Haunted House – Wading River: This haunted attraction has been scaring visitors since 1998 and two attractions in one with “The Village” outdoors and “The House” indoors. Located in a deserted field, you can expect bone chilling special effects and heart pounding scares.

Spooky Fest – CSTL: Wooded paths, exhibits, and festivities on the preserve will be featured, with eerie lighting, special effects, and characters along the way. Everything is perfectly spooky, and some are very scary. Creatures of all kinds inhabit the woods, the strange and beautiful will draw you into the eerie paths!

RISE of the Jack O’Lanterns – Old Westbury Gardens: Come see over 5,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns sprout up from the ground along a scenic garden walking path designed to bring out the fall spirit in visitors of all ages.

Stony Brook Annual Halloween Festival: On October 31, families can head to Main Street in Stony Brook for trick-or-treating in the shops, the Monster Merlin Parade, scarecrow displays, games and more.
Bayville Scream Park: Known as “Long Island’s Haunted Theme Park”, you can visit up to 6 different attractions, including Bloodworth Haunted Mansion, Evil in the Woods, Bayville Haunted Asylum, and more. Not up for the nighttime scares? The park is also open during the day for less scary, family friendly activities.
Schmitts Farm Haunted House: One of Long Island’s oldest haunted attractions, the Haunted Mansion of Melville has been in businesss for over 20 years. In addition to the Mansion, guests can check out the new and improved Nighttime Haunted Corn Maze!
