TASTE NORTH FORK: FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE NOV. 7 AND 14

November 2, 2015

RIVERHEAD, NY – For the third straight year, visitors to Long Island’s Wine Country will be able to tour the region without a car.  The Long Island Wine Council is once again organizing a two day promotion on consecutive Saturdays, November 7 and 14, called Taste North Fork, which includes special tastings, events, discounts and live music at the wineries. Special events and offers will also be provided by hotels, bed & breakfasts inns, restaurants, hamlet shops and attractions.

More info at Taste North Fork.

A key feature  of the program is the “hop on-hop off” shuttle service that will circulate throughout the North Fork, connecting wineries and the region’s historic hamlets. The service will provide easy access from the New York City and New England with links to the Long Island Rail Road and Cross Island Ferry in New London, Connecticut.

The free shuttle from Riverhead to Orient Point will be made available to visitors in partnership with the Hampton Jitney. There will be a Riverhead loop for stops between Riverhead and Aquebogue, a Peconic Loop between Aquebogue and Peconic, and a Greenport loop between Peconic and Greenport. The shuttles will run from noon until 5:30 pm and circulate every 3o minutes with passenger access from the Long Island Rail Road station in Mattituck and Cross Sound Ferry terminal in Orient Point.

Taste North Fork is part of an important effort to extend the tourism season on the East End of Long Island. The project is supported by a grant awarded to the Long Island Wine Council by New York State’s Empire State Development and the I ♥ NY Division of Tourism under Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative. The project is also supported by East End Getaway and the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau.
