This year summer doesn’t stop on Labor Day! Long Island beaches, parks and campgrounds are extending operations for residents and visitors through the end of September. Please remember to #BeSafe while enjoying our wonderful natural assets by wearing a mask and keeping a safe social distance from other patrons. The following is a guide to extended beach hours for both State and County parks.

State Parks Open to The Public

Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh: Field 6 and Central Mall will be open daily with lifeguards through September 20th. Field 2 and the West Bath House Ocean will be open with lifeguards on weekends only (September 12th,13th and September 19th,20th). Robert Moses State Park, Babylon: Field 2 and Field 5 will be open daily with lifeguards through September 20th. Field 3 and Field 4 will be open daily until September 13th and the weekend of September 19th and 20th with lifeguards.  Parking updates will be posted on parks.ny.gov, 631-669-0449.

Gov. Alfred E. Smith/ Sunken Meadow State Park, Kings Park: Main Beach will be open daily with lifeguards through September 20th and East Beach will be open weekends only (September 12th,13th and September 19th,20th); 631-269-4333, parks.ny.gov

Heckscher State Park, East Islip: Open at 7 a.m. daily for the park set on the Great South Bay (no lifeguards), 631-581-2100, parks.ny.gov.

Wildwood State Park, Wading River: Long Island Sound beach open weekends only (September 12th,13th and September 19th,20th), 631-929-4314, parks.ny.gov.

Orient Beach State Park, Orient: Open daily, 631-323-2440. parks.ny.gov

Hither Hills State Park, Montauk Open daily with lifeguards through September 20th. 631-581-2100, parks.ny.gov.

Sailor Haven/ Watch Hill, Fire Island Accessible by ferry from Sayville and Patchogue, the Fire Island National Seashore beaches are open to the public; 631-597-6183, nps.gov.

Nassau & Suffolk County Beaches

Eugene Nickerson Beach, Lido Beach (Nassau County): Open to Nassau County residents only with lifeguards through end of September. Limited capacity allowed.

Smith Point County Park, Shirley; Cupsogue Beach County Park, Westhampton; and Meschutt Beach County Park, Hampton Bays (Suffolk County): Open to Suffolk County residents only with lifeguards through end of September.
