Fire Island Invasion
The end of Pride Month marks the beginning of one of Fire Island’s most iconic traditions since 1976: the Fire Island Invasion of The Pines. Hundreds of drag queens parade through Cherry Grove, board the ferry, and “invade” the Pines. Thousands of onlookers cheer on. It ends with the crowning of queens by “Panzi,” the drag queen who started it all.
