DISCOVER LONG ISLAND LAUNCHES ANNUAL WINTER MARKETING CAMPAIGN
Impactful Campaign Reports 5.5% Increase in 1st Quarter Hotel Performance for the Region in 2018
LONG ISLAND, NY (December 19, 2018) – Discover Long Island has officially launched its second annual off-season marketing campaign encouraging locals and visitors to explore the region’s winter offerings. The impactful campaign, which first launched in November 2017, has proven successful yielding a 5.5% increase in hotel performance over the first quarter of 2018 as reported by Smith Travel Research.
“Research is at the foundation of every great creative marketing campaign,” said Kristen Jarnagin, President & CEO of Discover Long Island. “We were thrilled to see that on the heels of Long Island’s first-ever winter marketing campaign, STR reported a significant REVPAR increase for the region during the winter time period. Promoting Long Island as a year-round destination is an essential component to strengthening the region’s visitor economy, and ultimately allows us to further support small businesses and create local jobs during a normally less trafficked time period.”
The 2018 version of this off-season campaign continues to emphasize the idea of a ‘winter staycation’ to local and regional drive markets, highlighting off-season pricing, holiday attractions, family-friendly activities and romantic escapes. The second annual ‘Tis the Season to Discover Long Island’ is an integrated effort targeting an audience of over 16 million via television commercials, print placements, digital targeting, social media, an online influencer campaign and video placements.
