3. Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails! Exhibit is now open at the Long Island Children’s Museum.

One of the first things our visitors see upon entering LICM is our logo, featuring a lighthouse as the letter “I.” Today’s theme for National Arts and Humanities Month is “Monuments,” so we are shining a little light on why the lighthouse was chosen to be part of our logo. Artist and filmmaker Al Jarnow designed our logo, and wanted it to be quintessentially Long Island. When thinking about local lighthouses, he had many to choose from, but modeled the letter “I” lighthouse after the Fire Island Lighthouse. Lighthouses also appear inside the museum (check out Tot Spot) and are a major element on our website too. #showyourart2019 #nahm #monuments #lighthouse #longislandlighthouse #longislandny #fireisland #fireislandlighthouse #playlicm
