Long Island is served by an extensive network of mass transportation bus routes through the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Long Island Bus system. Long Island Bus provides convenient service throughout Nassau County, western Suffolk County and into eastern Queens. Fifty-three routes serve 48 Long Island Rail Road stations plus colleges, beaches, such as Jones Beach, museums, parks, and theaters throughout the area. In addition, several private bus operators offer service to the East End of Long Island.
