The nationally acclaimed de Seversky Center is located on the pristine campus of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in Old Westbury on the fabled Gold Coast stretch of Long Island’s North Shore.
Entering the grounds which are beautifully lined with linden trees, your first view of the de Seversky Center is marked by its splendid curved columned loggia. Once inside, the marble entry hall with its grand staircase captures your attention. The marble stairs lead to the Bridal Suite and private meeting room – designed in classic European country style and originally decorated by Charles of London – used for small intimate dinner meeting.
From the main hallway, you will be drawn to de Seversky’s oak-paneled rooms with refined fireplaces, and its Reception Room and Ballroom, which made their film debut in 1991 in the hit film “Arthur”, starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli.
Built in 1918 as a grand mansion for corporate legend Alfred I. Du Pont and later owned by Fredrick and Amy Phipps Guest, NYIT’s de Seversky Center is one of the metropolitan area ‘s premier conference and dining facilities, and a sought after location for weddings, business meetings, seminars, and other special occasions.
