Ransom Beach

Ransom Beach is mile long beach consisting of pebbles and sand facing Long Island Sound. The beach offers an outstanding view of the Sound. Located at a point where the Sound is just seven miles wide, thus creating an almost lake like effect, a location for magnificent sunsets. It also has a reputation for being one of the best birdwatching beaches on Long Island Sound. It is part of an “Important Bird Area” according to Audubon, New York. Some of the birds that can be seen here are: Red-breasted Merganser, Long-tailed Duck, Horned Grebe, Common golden Eye, and a variety of winter gull, Mute Swans, walk to the West where their is less developed to see Northern Harriers, and Snow Bunting.
