Twin Lakes Preserve

Twin Lakes Preserve is located along the Wantagh Parkway. It is a 58 acre preserve which features five ponds and an extensive section of wet woodlands. This is a serene location to enjoy birdwatching. Look for Green-winged Teal, Northern Shovler, Mallard Ducks, and American Black Ducks. Wading Birds include Egrets, Glossy Ibis, and Great Blue Heron in winter. Shore birds such as Yellow legs are often here. The wet woodlands offer good birding during fall and spring migration. Directions: From Sunrise Highway turn left (north) onto Old Mill Road. Continue on Old Mill Road to Park Ave. turn right, parking is available on the side of Park Ave. Access is available to both ponds from both sides of the road. Fees: No Fees
