Many county residents have fond memories from their youth of days spent at the 60 acre Hempstead Harbor Beach Park. Its half mile beach front property (fee required) offers beautiful vistas from the promenade, an elevated platform which many people use to walk and catch some rays on a sunny day. The walkway runs along the entire length of the 2,400 foot beach and connects with a fishing pier.
