Dolan DNA Learning Center

Dolan DNA Learning Center

The Dolan DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is the world's first science center devoted entirely to genetics education and is an operating unit of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, an important center for molecular genetics research. The museum exhibition, The Genes We Share, is open to the public Monday - Friday, 10AM-4PM and Saturday, 12PM-4PM. Closed Sunday-call for holiday hours. There is no charge for admission. Long Island Discovery, Cablevision's multimedia presentation on Long Island's history and heritage, is shown Monday-Friday, 10AM, 11AM, and 1PM, and 1PM and 3PM on Saturday, September to June, and Monday-Saturday, 1PM and 3PM during July and August. There is no charge for admission to Long Island Discovery. The Dolan DNA Learning Center "invented" DNA summer camps in 1985, and since then 6,000 students have participated in a variety of fun and challenging camps for science enthusiasts in 5th-12th grade. Visit the DNALC's website to see the 2005 summer workshop schedule. Saturday DNA! at the DNALC was developed by the education, scientific, and multimedia staff to serve children, teens, and adults interested in DNA programs outside of the school setting. We offer a variety of 2-hour laboratory-and computer- based sessions.
