The home of Walt Whitman, circa 1819. Served as inspiration for Whitman, America's greatest poet. Nineteenth century furnishing and unusual architecture. Exhibits that incorporate more than 130 portraits of Walt Whitman, original letters, manuscripts, artifacts, and schoolmaster's desk are housed in the Interpretive Center. Open year round. c.1819 Birthplace of America's most famous poet with authentic furnishings and unusual architecture. Exhibit includes Whitman's schoolmaster's desk, his voice on tape, portraits, letters/manuscripts and artifacts. Picnic facilities, museum shop and bookstore. Handicapped accessible.
