Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum

A charming museum for families to discover Long Island's seafaring past in a picturesque village of galleries, boutiques and historic houses.  Featured are New York's only fully equipped 19th century whaleboat with original gear and a renowned scrimshaw collection.

Long Island's illustrious whaling history is presented in the museum's " Mark Well the Whale" exhibit.  While the " wonder of Whales " gallery encourages visitors to listen to the song of the humpback Whale, marvel at  the size of the killer whale skull and learn about whale biology and whale conservation.  The museum promotes marine mammal conservation through its education programs and exhibitions.

Films and special programs are offered along with changing exhibits.  A hands on family activity center is open year round.
