Suffolk County, NY  has so much to offer, you’ll want to kick your shoes off and stay awhile.

One of the two counties that make up Long Island, Suffolk County is the easternmost county and is somewhat more rural than its western counterpart: Nassau County.

Suffolk County is an epicurean's dream. While here you'll find farm stands, organic farms, the freshest seafood, wines from over three dozen wineries, and some of the best New York chefs serving up local fare. Start your epicurean adventure here.

Play a round of golf on world-class fairways, venture to the top of a lighthouse, or head out on an exciting fishing excursion. There’s always plenty to see and do in Long Island’s Suffolk County, NY.

If you love the outdoors, you'll love Suffolk County beaches and parks.
 
Find a hidden gem at Cupsogue Beach or Smith Point County Park, two county operated ocean beaches. Find fishing, camping and more at Blydenburgh Park, and excellent kayaking and canoeing at Lake Ronkonkoma.

Or step out to the beaches along Fire Island National Seashore, at Suffolk’s South Shore, accessible by bridge or ferry. Climb to the top and enjoy the view at the Fire Island Lighthouse. All along the South Shore, charming villages feature great Suffolk County restaurants and shopping.

Suffolk County Culture & History

Take a scenic drive along the North Shore, where the winding roads take you through time and history, past quaint villages and bluff-side beaches. Visit Gold Coast mansions, an outstanding marine life exhibit and a planetarium all in one at the Vanderbilt Museum. Visit the home of poet Jupiter Hammon at the Joseph Lloyd Manor House, or the Walt Whitman Historic Site at the birthplace of famed poet Walt Whitman. Visit the Museum of American Art, History and Carriages at Stony Brook, or see the working Stony Brook Grist Mill c.1751.


 

Long Island Game FarmSuffolk holds plenty of action for Long Island kids and families, and boasts one of the top-rated water parks in the country, Splish Splash. Nearby Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center is a world-class facility in downtown Riverhead, featuring everything from sharks to penguins.

Enjoy spectacular outlet mall shopping at Tanger Outlet Center, or spend the day at a wildlife park or the Long Island Game Farm. Explore all of the Long Island, New York outlets and shopping centers.

Long Island’s two “forks” offer two different experiences for visitors. Visit the rural, laid back North Fork, whereSuffolk County Vineyards Long Island, New York orchards, vineyards, farm stands and charming villages welcome visitors.

Over two dozen wineries grace the scenic east end portion of the Island. In fact, Long island Wine Country was named one of the 'Top Ten Wine Regions in the World' by Wine Enthusiast magazine.  Head out to Greenport. Go to the exclusive Hamptons on the South Fork, where movie stars, sand and surf, upscale Suffolk County restaurants, hotels and shopping are the everyday norm.

Suffolk County in Long Island, NY is home to two of the Top Ten Beaches in the country. Long Island’s Cooper’s Beach in Southampton and Main Beach in East Hampton are two Suffolk County beaches named on Dr. Stephen Leatherman’s (AKA Dr. Beach) Top Ten Beaches” listing.
Suffolk County Beaches & LighthousesAnd if lighthouses are your passion, Suffolk County boasts more lighthouses than any county in the U.S., including the Montauk Lighthouse at “the end” of the Island.
