Long Island, NY is the home of the 140th running of the Belmont Stakes, the 1 ½-mile “Test of the Champion” and the longest and final leg of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown for three-year-olds, taking place on June 7. Even if you haven’t secured tickets, you can still experience the excitement of thoroughbred racing this summer.
Located in Elmont, N.Y. there are two race meetings in 2008: the 59-day Spring/Summer meeting from April 30 to July 20; and the 38-day Fall Championship meeting from Sept. 5 to Oct. 26.
