This exihibition will describe the ideas that drive mathematics -numbers, geometry, pattern, and so on- and demonstrate how these topics have been expressed by artists. The exhibit will include an international selection of art inspired by mathematics, and the exhibition scripting will explain the sources of the art in symbols, formulas, and graphs. Amounting to an almost pictorial visualization of abstract concepts, these diagrams and patterns have had a profound impact on the artists and architects who design today's urban enviroment and demonstrate that mathematics-because of its abstractness- is the international language of exact thought.
